How I can know if an online merchant is trustworthy or against one?

I am interested in ordering the following website: Http://www.unforgettabletvshows.com My concern is that this is a false one that takes the customer's money and never sent the merchandise. The above website does not offer PayPal payment. Only unsecured VISA / MASTERCARD. In general, how do you know if an online merchant is legitimate or not? So far, I've only done business with big names like Amazon, Buy.com. Please advise.
