What Personal Information of the Magnetic Stripe Credit Card you have?
I checked the website but apart How Stuff Works.com card number, name, expiration date else a customer's personal information is stored in the magnetic stripe of credit card? By a pair of bank's website that says that when a Debit Card or credit card was dried in a Skimmer (It's kind of a reader), then captures all personal information of the card.
The magnetic stripe card (credit card, driver's license, etc.) contain any personal information at all. Everything in it is a unique number to identify that particular physical card. That number is "personal information" only to the extent that this is associated with you and your account in a database somewhere. Think about it for a moment: 1. There is no storage space in the magazine, so almost anything band can be stored. 2. To access or update information, one would have to be in control of the card, and you can not do if you are in your pocket. 3. If the card is lost or damaged, all information would be lost, too. All this makes for storing information on the card impractical. Therefore, the card is used simply as a means of seeking information on another system. In the case of a bank, this would be the bank's computers, a driver's license would state computer, etc. So, all you need is the account number. If the magnetic strip is damaged for some reason, the clerk can enter the number manually. A skimmer capture card number and allow the user to create a clone card.
